Hi. I own a 2008 C6 2.2. Hdi Exclusive with manual gearbox. Navidrive software version is 6.62xxx so guess is the RT3, am I right? The car was delivered without the Navteq Cd's and I'm finding very hard to download the maps. I've also read that the RT3 is pretty close to useless in navigation. The car will be serviced soon in a official dealer. Should I buy the navteq maps or go for the old portable Tom Tom device that I already own? I know that is possible to update the software version in the dealer, but is it worth it? Thanks. Regards. |

C6Dave, Thank very much for the answer and the e-mail... superb! So I've to deal with the RT3... so be it. Although it may not be the most advance system in the world is way better that what I was used to (that was a Volvo stereo plus 6 speakers...). Never the less I'll try to get the maps for the 6.62xx version, meanwhile the Tom Tom will do the job. Cheers. |

You may want to think about upgrading to RT4/RT5 if you can find a unit on eBay etc. There is a guide on what to do with useful links over at C4owners: - Click Here - That's going from RD4 to RT4 but the principles are the same and you have less bit's to find............ |

I wouldn't say the RT3 is near useless. I actually find it quite good and use it regularly. The lack of postcode is a pain at first but once you get used to it, I find it fairly accurate and the traffic reports and re-direction is also useful. I am currently using the latest maps. If the RT4/5 is so much better, it must be an a amazing system! | ||

RT5 doesn't have post code entry either, (well if it does I ain't found it) only My way which aren't fitted to C6. I got a feeling that RT3/4 use a fiber optic cable to connect the screen and Rt5 a wire conection or is that RT3 Fiber optic only and RT4/5 cable? |

Hardware differences like that are more likely to be 3->4 than 4->5 ,the 4 is a whole new architecture from the 3, the 5 is an updated 4. |

It won't take full UK postcodes. For example, If your postcode is YO60 5GH (I made this up - it's not a real postcode AFAIK)You can input YO60 5 which will get you somewhere near. It's not much use in a rural area as my home postcode only differs from where I work by the final 2 letters but it's a different village over 2 miles away.Using the street name may differentiate. | ||

Anyone knows were I can find Navteq maps compatible with 6.62xx firmware? That must be one of the rarest downloads out there (everything I found demands 6.63 or higher...). Regards. P.S. There's always the option of buying the cds, but I would like to try it first in order to find if it's an alternative to the TomTom device that I already own. |
