BigJohnD wrote ... Does the C6 have an "active bonnet"? That is, a system which, in the event of collision with a pedestrian, raises the bonnet to reduce injury. A Nissan GTR does. Read on… - Click Here - (John asked over at C4owners) and yes the C6 does have an 'active' bonnet system fitted Hopefully any repairs if required will be covered under an insurance claim. Shame to see a C6 damaged like that though |

Looking in the engine bay the top of the V6 engine just about fills it, so there is no room for the bonnet to deform downward Haven't seen inside the bay of a 2.2 or 3.0 though to compare |

OK thanks to Phil we have a basic idea of costs on a C6 if the bonnet pyrotechnics go off and the bonnet is damaged It will probably require: So a total of £1,386.32 (retail inc Vat) for the parts Then there is body shop labour so it's going to cost in the region of £2,500 - £3,000 in total or 23% - 27% of what it would cost for that Nissan in the opening post!! Who say's Citroen parts are expensive.................. |

As someone said in the Nissan thread... if you're going to hit a pedestrian, make sure your reverse into them! | ||

Who say's Citroen parts are expensive.................. I think the parts are very expensive! It may only be a third of the cost of the Nissan repair but £3K is still probably about 20% of the entire value of a secondhand C6 - and they're only (max) 3 years old! When they are a bit older, the insurance companies will be writing off the car when the active bonnet deploys! |

For Information from Citroen: The pyrotechnic systems must be replaced following operation or within 15 years following the date of first registration of the vehicle, exclusively by the network . Because of current safety requirements, all repairs and check must be carried out only by the dealer . Any operation which is not carried out observing the procedures strictly can lead the systems to be disturbed or deployed at an untimely moment with the risk of injuries .
