I have been on the hunt for a replacement suspension pump motor and working on the assumption one from a C5 (the motor bit) will do fine. Obviously been hampered by it being a holiday period, but even so, a couple of things have become very plain.

Not one of the French breakers who pop up on an internet search had stock of any variant of the pump, C5 or C6. Not one of the general breakers had any C5. Additionally now, they seem to be going down the route of the motor parts shop in wanting a reg. no, which really is irrelevant when looking at a spread of vehicles.

There are a few listed on the well known auction site, yet strangely, when I said I wished to collect, that wasn't possible. This is odd, seeing they have photos of the piece apparently off the vehicle. Some of them have no, or not working phone numbers -- again, not something to instil much confidence in a business.

I have now settled on one and paid extra for the 24 hour service -- so we'll see.

Given that the suspension is one of the defining features of our cars, I find it odd that none of the French specialists have made the effort to have at least some variant of the pump on the shelf.

So, from what I can see, if you are mulling over acquiring some used item, don't leave it too long -- it's obviously more attractive for most breakers to weigh in older stuff rather than properly salvage key parts.

Mike.

Mike,
I would be looking further east for remanufactured pumps.

I found a Polish company like the Turkish one that sold me a "C6" specific unit. But in general very difficult to find pumps, (they are all sold or worn ?)

The name of the company I bought from is "Regtech-s". They are still active and have our C6/C5 pump still on offer (3 units available): Check :

My order came as promised, and looked like new (with some extra sealing). The garage used some time with bleeding/startup and then it has worked perfectly for more than half a year now.
