Good morning,
After changing the thermostat housing (1336-Y3 part) in a Citroen garage, my 3.0 HDI engine started to leak droplets of motor oil underneath the air filter box. What could be the cause and what can I do to track the issue? Is it safe enough to drive with this leak? Kind regards from France, Mihai Gabriel

Good evening,
Quick update: the leak appears to be coming from the heat exchanger to block metal gasket (I have also found this information posted by Cisco some years ago)
Can the gasket be ordered separately? Is it better to replace the heat exchanger as well? (the car has nearly 300 000 km)
Regards,
Mihai

When I had leak from the heat exhanger, the "V" between cylinder rows was full of oil, so it was more serious than it seemed. Changed the exhanger unit.

The picture is showing the heat exchanger of the gearbox. Are you sure it's engine oil you're losing?
To find the leak it might be a could strategy to take out the air filter housing....

Good idea, thank you, Fraunie. What I did, to begin with, was to clean the motor shield. After 100 km, I have found, so far, only traces of coolant liquid, not oil.
