Right, I've had this particular C6 for a year now and it's due a service despite having only done 4000 miles since it's last one at BL Auto's.

My handbook is in French which to me might as well be Hebrew!

I know the oil is different from the 2.7 and I believe the 3.0 HDi uses a 5w30 C2 Low Saps engine oil. I was going to order Total Ineo from Opie Oils but wanted to see what everyone else uses.

I spoke to Steve briefly earlier on and he uses 10w30 so I'm now intrigued to see what everyone else recommends.

I'll be ordered engine oil and gearbox oil so will hang fire until I've read a few other peoples thoughts.

The 3.0 should use 5-30 C2 (PSA B71 2290) or 0-30 C2 (B71 2312).

There is also a warning: CAUTION : Category ACEA 0W30 C1/C2 oil must not be used in engines earlier than RPO 12653 (01/07/2011).

I am using 5-30 C2 in my 2010 3.0

Thank you. My car is a 2012 but I don’t fancy the idea of going down to a 0w30.

Hello David,

We use Total Ineo for 3.0Hdi as per 2.7Hdi. No issues.

Best regards

Hello David,

Just noticed your comment on the transmission oil. It is different. I'll have to check the container in the garage to confirm. Will confirm tomorrow.

Best regards,

Gear oil, normal "JWS 3309" for models up to late 2009. After that 3.0/EURO 5 cars need a more advanced (and thinner ?) AW-1 standard examples: Fluidmatic MV LV, ATF DEXRON IV Valvoline, MOTUL Multi ATF, Comma XXX PLUS, JWS 3324

Hello David,

As per Tjensen's list I sourced Total Fluidmatic MV LV for the 3.0HDi.

Best regards,

Thanks guys,

I used a Smith and Allen JWS3324 fluid for the 407 when flushing it out. You can order it in 20 litre tubs on eBay for just under 90 quid so I was going to order one of them for the C6.

I changed the gearbox oil on a 2.7 C6 last year whilst flushing the 407 and when pouring the JWS3309 and JWS3324, you could noticeably see the difference in viscosity. The 3324 was much thinner.

I'm leaning towards Total Ineo 5w30 from Opie Oils for the engine oil at the moment.

And this for Anti Freeze.

I ordered the Total Quartz Ineo 5w30 from Opie Oils. Unfortunately it's out of stock at the moment. They called to advise that they're not sure when it'll be back in stock so I've re-ordered 6 litres of Mobil 1 ESP 5w30.

I've used Mobil 1 in my XM for years and not had any problems and the specs of it seem to be very good too.

Hi,

I have been using this company for the last 40 years, and I have found the quality outstanding :-

In fact one vehicle I use is still running on oil from the last oil change 20 years ago, will get around to changing it soon.

Regards

Good morning

I've just changed the oil in my C6 3.0 HDi.

The user manual clearly indicates to use the TOTAL QUARTZ INEO ECS 5W-30 (see picture n.1 below), that I've bought and used.

Once the job was done....I was just seized by a doubt reading a 2005 "C6 Mechanics Hanbook" dowloaded from here....where the 5W30 oil was prohibited for an engine with the FAP (see picture n.2 below)

Thanks to this post (and to the documenent "Citroen recommended Lubricants 2012", also download from here) any doubt is definitively dispelled.

Probably in 2005 there was no 5W30 oil fitting the FAP requirements available on the market.

Thanks again to this community.
Massimiliano

The first rounds of information in 2005 were probably written before the availability of new oils in the ACEA C2 5-30 standard.
