One of the headlamps on our 2010 2.2 C6 is out.

I know that a previous failure was due to the electronics rather than the bulb, is there any easy way to tell what has died?

Also, I can't quite remember, is it possible to change lamp and/or driver without removing the headlamp unit. It's the LH one with the battery behind it. Removing the rubber cap on the rear of the unit is no big problem but I can't remember if it's then possible to do anything useful!

Both main beam and dipped beam are out.

Oops, the battery isn't behind it of course, just the "jump start" terminal, the battery is in the boot.

you did have me scratching my head a little with that one

I think you'll be able to change the lamp but the driver is mounted to the bottom of the headlamp unit and you will need to remove it to change the driver.

Thanks, is there any easy way to decide whether it's the driver or the lamp that has failed?

I would suggest changing the bulb and seeing what happens. It is possible to replace both bulbs without dismantling (other than the rubber cover) with dexterity and a few scraped knuckles. I forget which side was more difficult - there is a good thread on this site somewhere with very useful pictures.

Yes, that's all it was, a failed bulb. Hurrah!

Thanks all.

What bulb did you replace it with?
