Phil, was this situation with your 2.7 or Sue's 3.0?

Sorry to hear that Phil. Guess what, my newish radiator from a few years back is now leaking!!
Most of Coolant was missing when i did my under the bonnet weekly check!

Oh, my weekly check is now going too be my daily check from now on!!

What’s will go next on the famous coolant circuit?

Duh... I just re-read Phil's post, which clearly states "2.7"!

Hello 321Dave,

Thanks but as I say the low water alarm saved the day. In fairness this 2.7 has been great cooling wise. It has only had attention in one other place - the outlet tank. And there's 100,000 miles on it now. The 06 car was built two weeks before it and in the time we had it both coolant tanks, the radiator and two pipes failed. We've owned the 2.7 since it was 2 years old (by registration) and have had G12 coolant in it since then. Is it kinder on the coolant system?

Shame about your rad!

Best regards,

Phil C.

She's beautiful, Dave.I'm actually thinking of moving her (the 3.0HDi) on while she's in tip-top condition!

Ah i understand.
What are you thinking about next Steve or will you go all electric (Tesla) like a few people on the forum have gone in that direction. Citroen will have the C-experience in a few yrs as well.

Well, I've sort of come to the end of the road with getting her to her current condition, and I've spent a lot of time and money on that journey. I guess you could say that I'm looking for a change.

I've agreed to buy a lovely XJ 3.0D Portfolio; I've fancied one for a long time, and I have three cars now - four, if I count Colin's 2.7 (which needs to be gone also), two of which get not much use other than at weekends, and that's become a rarity...

If someone comes along with the right offer, then I'd probably take it. Not sure, really; just thinking sensibly, I suppose.

Electric? No! Battery technology needs to move on before I'd even consider that...

Hello Nikola,

I have not yet progressed this for the 3.0Hdi. I would like to at some point.

Best regards,

Does anyone have the probe lying around for measurements?
I'm after the length of it - actually the distance between the coolant sensing surface and the seal.

Apologies for re-opening this thread.
I need expert advice for my 2.2 2009 C6.
I have just installed a coolant level sensor as per Vaho's guide, but I have not found in Lexia anywhere to show it is present.
However, I am getting the message to "Top up coolant level" even though the level in the header tank is OK and above the sensor probes.
Am I missing something in Lexia?

Hello Tich731,

Your car is 2009. I successfully installed the mod in a 2007 2.7HDi and as per Vaho's instructions I found the option in Lexia/Diagbox to enable the coolant level warning. Before attempting to fit the mod. to our 2009 3.0DHDi I looked for the option and the coolant level warning option was greyed out and not available to change. On that basis I didn't install the sensor. It's interesting to see that you get a message although in reverse!

Best regards,

Phil C.

Thanks for your comments Phil.
In Lexia and the "equipment driver information (1)" screen the coolant level sensor is not shown as an option, normal or greyed out.
Do you think that using Diagbox would give the option?

Ralph,
It might be down to yours being a 2.2 and not a 2.7!
let me check a C5 2.2 to see if I can find a different location. IIRC it may be in the list of ECU's present within the BSI.

I cannot see it in the ECU list. There is a mention of it in the Engine Relay Unit/Instrumentation - measurements with a flag of the number 1.
Any ideas?
Ralph
