I have a slightly worn bearing/whining noise coming from my 2008 2.7 serpentine area, the noise increases and decreases with engine revs

Are there any diagrams so I can visualize the area before I start taking the car apart to diagnose

I'm assuming it's the alternator pulley but guessing can get expensive

Found this in the docs section

The timing belt doc has a great pic of the serpentine arrangement

Don't ignore the noise. I did and wished I hadn't. The belt failed at speed half way around a fast curve and all of a sudden I had no power steering! It was at that point that I realised how light the steering normally is and how weak my arms are!

Luckily no damage done although it wrecked my holiday weekend and the car went home on the back of a truck.

Sorry to hear that, do you know which part failed to make the belt come off?

My belt failed twice: 1. the generator clutch 2. The tensioner. The last one was an error at the garage repairing no 1, failed to check torque for the fastener.

The belt was squeaking for a while which I was putting off doing anything about until the next service in a few months. The belt broke. Just like fan belts used to when I was a kid.

Ended up being the Poly belt deflection pulley/idler

Managed to split the two halves of the pulley and replace the 6303 bearing, cheap fix and tested the OAP in the process
