Hello everybody, this is my first thread.

I have joined C6owners forum while still looking for a Citroen C6 in the hope I can make an informed choice and choose the right car and specification.

I have learned a lot more about these cars since I found this site and have enjoyed reading many of the ownership stories.

So far the only information I can't seem to find is;

Did Citroen make the 2.2 HDi available with automatic transmission?

Did Citroen make the 2.7 HDi V6 diesel with a manual transmission?

From what I can gather the 3.0 HDi diesel was only offered with an automatic transmission.

It seems the very rare 3.0 V6 petrol engine appears to be automatic only too.

Thanks for allowing me to join and become a member. I am looking forward to buying my C6 and feel better knowing there is help and support outside the Citroen dealer network.

Kind regards,

Christian

Welcome to the forum.

To answer your questions.

2.2HDi was available with auto & manual gearboxes, all other engines were auto only.

The 3.0HDi was as rare as the 3.0 petrol in the UK, about 30 of each came here.

2.7HDi is available in the highest volume.

I'm being told by many people that buying a C6 is a huge mistake. Reliability issues and servicing are clearly not straight forward for the average garage.

Trouble is I love CX, XM and C6. I'm not brave enough to buy a CX and there is hardly any XM for sale. C6 is best option.

I am disappointed to find no central fixed boss steering wheel like the Citroën C4

One of the things putting me off buying is the RT3/RT4/RT5 factory audio system.

So far I have only found two audio specialists who can remove factory head unit and fabricate a custom fascia in order to install a single 1-DIN audio system that can communicate with factory functions.

£1000 is a lot of money for up to date connectivity. I don't mind paying just seems a shame as I like the look of factory audio. The factory system is 1.5 DIN in size. Apparently nobody makes the 1.5 DIN size fascia panel to allow 1-DIN fitment. The trick is to fabricate a custom fascia and use a 2-DIN sized screen that fits into that single 1-DIN space behind like the Alpine Halo 9" screen.

Will be interesting to say the least.

Albeit my research and search for a C6 continues.

Are you sure they are replicating all of the functions?

I posted this on another thread yesterday...

The trip computer including temperature gauges, climate control, telephone, and probably something else I've forgotten all run through the central screen and are controlled by the RT3/4/5. Infact, if you remove the headunit from a UK spec C6, I believe the speedo defaults to kilometers.

It might be doable but there's things I'd want to be absolutely sure they could guarantee would work such as the temperature displays and the speedo.

The standard system isn't bad to be honest. Setting the Nav is a bit clunky but once set it works well and the JBL Audio is decent as long as you feed it with something of a decent quality.

A C6 that's been maintained properly isn't a bad car. The key is to have someone who understands them maintain it rather then just your local garage. A sorted one should prove to be a fairly reliable car.

David.

Thanks David

No, I'm not 100% sure so I will email both companies and run that by them thank you.

One of the guys admitted they'd never had a C6 in but he had done Peugeot models with similar audio.

Thanks
