Hi all, I'd appreciate advice of any experience anybody has of changing this piece of rubber hose adjacent the inner rear spheres thats becoming damp. I couldn't trace a part number for it from Citroën service but if anybody knows what it is that would be good to know.
Assuming it's not available as a separate part, does anyone know if it needs to be a particular spec to resist LDS and what diameter it might be? Also, would it be necessary to depressurise the system to replace it?

Any advice gratefully received. Thanks in advance

Hi there,

I had a similar dilemma replacing this hose which had started to leak a couple of years ago. In the end I used generic fuel hose which has worked fine so far!

I think it was 1/4" i.d.

No need to depressurize to replace either.

The part in't available, but I think I may have a piece of pipe left from when I replaced mine, I'll check later......

There is a possibility that there 'could' still be available as the X7 C5 tourer has the same set up at the back, again, I'll check later.....

Thanks Steve, I'd be very happy to pay for the hose and postage if you have any available

Glyn,

I've had a look for the pipe, but can't find the length I have....... but I think the part is still available, It's the same part number (5270SE) as the X7 C5 Tourer

It's a bonkers idea to incorporate that small length of rubber hose with a whole length of metal pipe that runs from front to back of car.
Virtually every C6 will need that changing and or has already had it done.
It's commonly accepted to replace the rubber pipe only with generic fuel hose, leaving the rest of the metal pipe alone.

Hi guys,

I have now the same problem with my Citroen C5 2.0 HDI 2009 and I am thinking to replace it myself. I already lost about 1 liter of oil in 2 weeks just by keeping it like this in the parking lot.
Does it really work with a generic fuel hose? And if yes what should be the sizes? Did you also replaced the hose pipe clips or the old ones can be reused?
Also I would be interested to know if when you changed the hose did you need to put something under the car to recover the leaked oil? Does it leak a lot when you do the change of the hose?

Thank you very much and wish you safe trips,
Valentin

It's usually the end of the hose that splits. I unclipped that end, and as the hose was long enough, shortened the hose by 15mm approx and refitted using the same clip.

Thanks tich731 for the prompt reply,

Would you, by any chance, know what should be the inner diameter of the hose or the approximate length?
Also, regarding my other question, when you removed the bad end to cut it, did it leaked a lot of oil? should I put something underneath to recover it?

Thanks again!

The outside diameter of the plastic spigot to which the pipe is fixed is 8mm. Length is approx 200mm. There was minimal fluid loss when I did the repair.
