Unfortunately on a road trip last night, my wife encountered some of our original faults . Having the suspension fault come up in red constantly, wasn’t very good for her passengers nerves and the knocking in the wheel well has returned. What to do now! |

Hi Chris, sorry to hear your having a few issues with your new C6. When you mention a knocking sound, it could be worn drop links attached to the front anti roll bar. Is thud sound particularly obvious passing over speed bumps? The slightest wear on idir side will produce a sound.. I replaced my own links some what initially with cheaper ones and they didn't last long. Then I replaced them again with more expensive parts the second time and they have been very quite now for 2yrs so far. If your not on the motorway daily they get a good testing on bad surfaces, so they will wear quicker. I'm afraid as the road surfaces are generallly poor this contributes to the increased wear and then a knocking sound. Could well be they are worn now. They aren't very expensive anyway. Just a thought on what might be causing you that sound. |

Hi Chris, I hope you stick with it and WHM to get these teething problems ironed out. Once sorted you'll start to really enjoy the car. As well as the drop links mentioned by Dave the bottom suspension bush presents with a similar knocking on uneven surfaces. It's also an easy fix for WHM. Did WHM say what they did to correct the knocking when they had the car last week? The suspension fault could be a bit more difficult to pin down and error codes would help point to the source. Again, WHM should be able sort it. But if you can get more info, post it up and I'm sure someone will be able to give you some pointers. |

Thanks gents. I’ll get it fixed eventually, and even so in the mean time, I haven’t enjoyed a car so much since my Saab 9000 days. | ||

Hi folks, just a bit of a sad update. I followed the advice and went to a garage recommended on these pages. 1 month on I’ve got... ABS failure SATNAV failure AIRCON failure even though I’ve spent £70 topping it up as it arrived without any gas in it. PARKING BRAKE failure SUSPENSION FAULT KNOCKING NOISE FRONT RIGHT WHEEL CRUISE CONTROL failure That's a heck of a list and as a prospective owner scares the daylights out of me! I'm delighted to hear the seller rectified the faults but really all of these in 30 days? If I were suspicious ( which I am not) then I would perhaps think that these faults had simply been cleared prior to sale, but what dealer with a good reputation would do that and not expect grief. As for arriving with no air on working, again, why? This forum as in all specialist car forums tend to highlight issues as a car running trouble free isn't terribly entertaining, I do hope though that you have a long period of hassle free wafting in one of the most unique forms of transport available. |

This forum as in all specialist car forums tend to highlight issues as a car running trouble free isn't terribly entertaining The 'youngest' C6 are now 7 years old and the bulk of those available were built 2006/7 so are at a point in there life where issues will arise I'm afraid. Plastics go hard and break, rust is attacking vulnerable pipes, fluids are degenerating, seals leak and that happens with all cars. Even a 'well sorted' C6 is likely to have some hidden issues waiting to popup and if your contemplating buying one then you need to factor in some 'preventative maintenance' and the possibility of a repair or 2 just like I have had to do on my latest 6. |
