A year or so ago, I was made aware of a fixed price for changing the timing belt on my 2.7. It was £295. On the Citroen UK website that price is actually still quoted, but when calling Tates Citroen in Crawley I was informed that because mine was a 2.7 V6, two belts etc etc the cost would be £1500 + VAT! Is anyone aware of a Citroen main dealer, or an independent, that could do the belt change nearer the £295 mark? i think it may help me sell my beloved C6 if I can state it has been done... Cheers! |

Hi Blackhatphil. I had the same problem. Stoneacre Citroen, who I'd used up to this point, also stated that the £295 fixed price doesn't apply to 6-cylinder cars, whereas I think it did once. The price quoted was around £900 including tensioners but no mention was made of the second belt. So, I've just had mine done at a local independent (Keith Davis - Chester) and the cost for both belts fitted and including VAT was just over £600. More than I'd hoped but not out of the way, considering how I want to keep the car. I also got my first ever ride in a DS! How hard does the C6s ride feel compared to that?!! Keith also found seriously corroded front suspension pipes in the engine bay, which hadn't been picked up by the main dealer ( |

That's three times I was quoted and I'm in NZ - and that's considering that we are not fortunate enough to have numerous (officially affiliated) Citroen service departments or independent specialists to choose from and were never offered any fixed price offers. An independent Peugeot guy quoted a tad more than 500 quids for belts only (no rollers), which I'll probably go for in a few months time. |

Just changed my belts and accessories at a standard big Citroen dealer following a crash of the alternator freewhel. More than 10 hours and a total cost around 3000 £. After 2 weeks the tensioner of the aux belt lost its fastening bolt and a new disaster arrived. They seem to pay for the repair, caused by a faulty fastening of the bolt, and now the car is agan waiting for parts from France: bolt, belt, tensioner and timing belt cover | ||
