Friend's car with 110,000 miles covered is leaking hydraulic oil and it seems that it's the front strut. Best place to buy new? Would a used one from a breaker be a bad idea?

I paid 324 euros incl. shipping (16 euro) from Citroen Midi Lorient a couple of years ago. Not sure of the price there today.

Unless you know it's a low mileage unit I would think a s/h unknown unit would be a false economy. And remember that these units are handed!

Good luck with it.

In Norway the Citroen price went from 275 EUR to 1000 EUR in three years (and a change of import ownership)

I ordered both front struts (5271L7 and 5271L8) from Citroen Accessories Midi Lorient on december 2016. Total price with minor discount was about 665 eur including shipment to Finland.

If you go the 2nd hand route, make sure the replacement struts are carefully inspected for corrosion around the circlip (otherwise the struts might burst up through the bonnet photos on this forum of what that looks like).

Hello Everyone!

To wake up an old thread I am en route of changing the front struts on the C6 and was wondering if anyone has done that recently and can share some experience i.e. price and availability. Isn't there repair kits made up by now?

Thank You all!

I used Eurocarcare.net for an offside strut and was impressed with their service.

Thank you for the quick response!

Unfortunately Out of Stock...
It looks like I will be selling organs to keep the lady running. I really was hoping there will be a repair kit made by now...
At least I know once the old struts are of the car they will go straight on the workbench and will be thoroughly examined.

I wish you all a Great Day!
