Wipers stuck on auto mode

 Hello,
I am a new owner of C6. This comes with a problem. Recently, my wipers went crazy. They onlyThank move as on auto mode. I have no control of them, as they keep moving on auto mode. When I turn off the car they keep moving for a few minutes, then they stop. When I start the engine they resume their constant move.
Also when I try a windscreen wash they don't react.
I changed the lighting mechanism found on the steering wheeel, but with no success.
I also have to mention that the wipers went crazy when driving on a heavey rain.
My model is from 2011, diesel, 3 litres.

 I would suggest dropping your windows slightly [all 4] and disconnecting battery for 30 mins. basically, a BSI reset.

 Ok, thank you for the suggestion. I will give it a try.
Could it also be water under the hood from heavy raining, which could prevent the communication between the computer and the wipers' mechanism ?
