I have the earlier system and it was as easy as buying a disc from eBay and putting it in and leaving it in. The data is read from the CD when required.

Which head unit do you have?

I can't help with the later type but I am sure someone will be along soon to give more detail.

Hi James, thanks for advice, my car is a 2006, exclusive, 2.7v6, with the disc that stays in car for it to work, if that helps , don't know the type of unit !.

That will be an RT3 unit.

EBAY search 'RT3 2017 disc' and you'll be sorted for £20. Mine came with instructions on how to update the Firmware.

The SatNav is tricky because it doesn't do post codes. I've learnt to live with it and manage to live quite well with saved locations mainly.

Good luck with it!

You can enter partial postcode, e.g. AB1 2, which gets you in the vicinity then enter the road name.
Enter the postcode in the Town box on the screen.

Really! That sounds useful. I only have option to enter town, then road then house number. Am I missing how to do this on my RT3?

You've got me thinking now!
On RT4 & RT5 you can definitely enter partial postcodes (in the 'Town' entry field), as I do this on my C6s.
Now, I'm not sure sure on RT3, so suggest you give it a try.

Col3356, I've sent you an email through the forum.
Yes, I still have the 2.2HDi and it's available to buy.

RT3 doesn't do postcodes. I use Google Maps, with my device on charge and wearing a Bluetooth earpiece for the spoken instructions.

My iPhone has Siri: press-n-hold the earpiece 'answer/cancel' button, wait for the audio prompt and say "google maps, navigate to <postcode>".

Same with Samsung S-voice (but not quite as responsive!).
