Alarm goes off when charge battery

 Hi, the battery in our C6 is completely flat We want to charge it by attaching a battery charger under the bonnet but when we turn the charger on the car alarm goes off.
We cannot open the doors with the key fob(? - key with battery in it).

Does anyone know how you can turn the car alarm off when it goes off like this?
It goes off after a minute or so when we turn the charger off, but we need to charge this battery and get this car on the road.

 Can you open the boot (using manual release from inside if necessary), pull the battery and charge it off the car? Or just replace it?

One of the doors should open the old-fashioned way with key alone. Be very careful with the windows. You can open a door - carefully - without power but you can't shut it.

 Suggest you put jump leads on the terminals under the bonnet, then connect to a good battery or another car. This will give you power to unlock the doors and the boot.

You can then charge the battery in the boot, having first disconnected it from the car's electrics.
You'll need to remove the side trim panel in the boot to get full access.
The negative lead has an easy clip-off connector.
The positive lead had a red box of tricks attached to it, you'll need a 10mm socket to undo the nut, then lift off the red box.
You can then connect your battery charger.

If the battery is completely flat, expect it to take 12-24 hours to charge fully using a domestic type charger. You could remove the battery completely and charge it elsewhere, depending on where your car is parked.

Another tip is to make sure the boot lid doesn't shut accidentally whilst the battery is disconnected, which would be disasterous if you have Lounge seats, is to close the latch by using a screwdriver, mimicking the action of the boot closing.

 It appears that your battery is totally flat! If the fob doesn't unlock the car and switch off the alarm, then I'd think that the fob battery is also flat. Shaun is dead right; you need to connect another vehicle or a charged battery at the underbonnet jump posts. A small charger will probably not provide sufficient current to unlock the car and to operate the boot latch release.

If the alarm sounds (which it will once the voltage rises), then unlocking the car with the key in the door lock will not silence the alarm.
