Hi all,
Just thinking about the question of what does a healthy Diesel engine sound like in terms of should it tick or should it be making certain sounds that are fine and healthy.

Does it make sense to have a sound library for healthy and unhealthy sounding engines.

1. Sound of a good starting 2.7 or 3.0 hdi versus a typical bad starting version. (Bad starter motor about to fail)
2. Sound of a good and healthy serpentine belt assembly versus a bad sounding one (various sounds of typical symptoms) chirping, winning, metal sound etc..
3. Sound a typical healthy 2.2hdi or 2.7 or 3.0 versus a rattly or tappetty sounding 2.2 etc
4. Sound of a typically healthy set of injectors versus one or two faulty
5. Sound of a diesel with working glow plugs versus one of with one or more plugs not working or non at all.
Should be of help to people fixing or trying to ascertain weather there are various issues with the cars engine.

Just an idea for the website. People could submit sound files from there C6 and to create the library initially and eventually people interested in purchasing a good C6 can ascertain a diagnosis from the library before purchasing a C6 or help support a repair for the members who are unsure?
