Can anybody else confirm the pin prick in the air conditioning? It has been mentioned a number of times, but without success. I (think) I must have it, because I have topped up the air con 3 times and 3 times it has collapsed after a while. So I'm now looking for solutions.

Hi Chris, I'm probably a bit thick on this one. Do you suspect you have a hole somewhere in the AC system? If so, best take it to a specialist AC technician who will charge the system with dye and trace it with a UV light. In fact, first of all they will put the entire system under vacuum and if it fails to maintain a vacuum, then that is definite proof of a hole/leak. Apologies if you have already done the above! G |

An AC specialist would soon find a leak - my Citroen dealer did... Condensor had a hole, (aftermarket) warranty covered it as there was no sign of external damage. I think others have had condensor failure, but C6 is so rare that getting meaningful data is difficult. I think now 4+ years since replacement with air con on all the time and still cold. |

My 2006 C6 (very low mileage at 38,000) has never had an air con service or recharge and still blows cold. Knock on wood.

My 2007 petrol C6 had fully working and cold aircon when I bought it last Autumn. However, as I'm curious and like things to be 'just right' I had the aircon serviced. The system is supposed to hold 525g of gas, mine had 160g and was working OK. I'm happy to have spent £50 having the gas topped up and know everything is cool. |

Thank you to all who responded. I'm going to take it to a Citroen dealer and await the outcome!

Condensers are known to be weak particularly on C5 which apparently has the same unit as C6. My local friendly independent advises not to fit a Citroen replacement. He fits a stronger equivalent. Best regards, Phil C. |

Mine too, Cruserphil- I had my car under a Citroen warranty and they replaced with a factory one. It was about £1000. Forge Motors said that they could replace it with a stronger one for £300.

Update on aircon Condensers for 2.7HDi: Firstly, it looks as though there was a complete design change at chassis number 11557. Earlier cars used a wider lower condenser, nominal core size of the heat exchange section of 669 wide x 303 high x 16mm thick. This applies up to June 2008 approximately. Later cars use a narrower/higher exchanger nominal size 558 wide x 361 high from chassis number 11557 onwards. Presumably the change in the condenser size coincided with a change for supplier of the entire HVAC system (cabin side) although as far as I can see, Sanden remained the sole compressor supplier and did not change the design. Suppliers for the earlier condensers are Nissen #94830 (2.9kg) or Valeo #817740 or BOLK #BOL-C0217267. Suppliers for the later condensers are Valeo #814173 On a tangent, the BOLK condenser is listed at 66 Euros on the Belgium website of a large motor factor or 188 pounds on the UK website of the same factor. Go figure the difference in exchange rate or who is getting ripped off! Note, THE ABOVE APPLIES TO 2.7 HDI Regards G |
