RT 4/5 system starting to fail

 Symptoms:

-4 hours perfect functioning an a long trip
-then darker screen and controls sluggish or not working. Even Audio OFF/ON not working OK
-Died (black screen)
-Tried to restart by itself and showing the Chevrons, then black again and new attempt. many times, and a high-pitched weak beeping noice
-Stopped engine, had a lunch, same symptoms when starting
-After a while: constant Chevrons
-After 1-2 hours: restarted succesfully by itself and... perfect after that

If this is a once-a-year thing it is OK, but if it something to worry about, I should worry and do something. Never happened like this before, but 2 small incidents with the systems 1 and 3 years ago

Ideas ?

 Possible Hard Disk about to Fail? or simply hard disk needs Defrag?
