Seeing one C6 on the road is a rare thing. Seeing a convoy of them is a sight to behold!

I have been thinking of an excuse to get a few C6s together for a drive out and have come up with this idea for consideration.

Most of us know that Citroen had a factory in Slough for many years. I think a convoy drive that ends with a gathering at the old factory site would be fun. Maybe also go for lunch somewhere too. If anyone can think of other Citroen related things to do during the drive out then please feel free to suggest them.

There's not a lot left of the old factory. Mars bought the property and bulldozed the buildings a long time ago, replacing with their version of Willy Wonka's Chocolate factory.
The old Citroen head office has sat unused for 3 years now in Slough.
It always provided a nice back drop for photos, but was looking a bit sad last time I saw it.

Where in Slough is the old head office?

Does anyone have any ideas for a C6 convoy?

Who cares about what's there. It's all about the journey. I'm in Cardiff and I'll join any convoy anywhere.
That it as soon as it's back from the gearbox specialist, and I've fixed the headlamp washers and drivers side heating and tyre pressure sensors and returned the scratched wheels and ..........

The ex Citroen head office is on 221 Bath Road (the A4), postcode SL1 4BA. Opposite Leigh Road.
A Citroen dealership was In part of the building, showroom was sat empty, when I last visited.
The Citroen factory was on a plot of land bordered by Leigh Road, Liverpool Road & Buckingham Avenue, very close to the office.

There was a previous head office and workshops at Mill Street, near the railway station.

For a short convoy drive you could go out through Burnham, head west and end up at The Old Bell pub at Hurley. We had several C6 owners gatherings there a few years ago. Lovely pub with decent size carpark.
For a longer drive, you could go out through Burham, Beaconsfield, Chesham ending up at Dunstable Downs (National Trust open land). Lovely spot with great views with plenty of photo opportunities. I did this drive with a classic car club, so will see if I can get hold of the route plans.

I have studied archive pictures of the Citroen factory taken back in the 20s, 30s and 40s in addition to the current Google mapping and I believe that the main factory building was sited between Dundee and Fairlie roads and Banbury, Edinburgh and Cambridge Avenues. Basically where the Mars factory stands/stood as shown on the current Google map images. In fact part of the Mars factory roof at the Cambridge Avenue end is the original louvered glass roof as constructed back in the late 20s.

Let's start compiling a list of those that would be interested in participating in a convoy and then when we have a few names we can decide among ourselves where the route should go and what we could do on it.

I lived in Maidenhead, and went by the old Citroen factory a lot- it's on the industrial estate. Some of it still remains- I have a photo of my Light 15 coming out of what used to be the Works, just as it did in 1939. (sad, isn't it!)

We went on one RAC rally from Citroen in Slough, in about 1997(?), in our then Sept Legere- we were first out, I recall, and we went via Brooklands.
