Ped, I recommend you get them in advance, then take them with you to the tyre fitter's.

I called local Citroen dealer, while I was at ATS, and asked if they had four C6 wheel studs in stock - they had nineteen.

I ordered a second wheel nut key, from Tolleys when I collected (yeah quite expensive £35 IMS) and keep them both in the car. Tolleys provide a nice little bright orange bag, with draw string. So when it went in for service (towbar) I hang it on the radio stalk so it's nice and obvious.

When I had a new tyre losened and tightend the wheel nuts myself ( OK obsessive )

Just suppose all the wheels were stolen? I don't think the insurers would pay out as they are standard fittment?

Goboxy, My last 'car', a VW Caravelle, had alloys, no locking nuts - five years and never had hem stolen. I believe the demand for alloys has dropped to near zero as so many cars have them from new and aftermarket ones are so cheap. Who would want a set of alloys off a C6?

Hi Guys, the C6 wheel screws (aka bolts) including locking varieties are exactly the same as the original C4 items (except there are 5 off per wheel). So not exactly hard to get hold off and just ask the parts man for some C4 wheel screws (or bolts)

Regarding the locking items, I figured out that the very high probability of problems with the locking screws multiplied by the consequence (stuck on side of road, complications during service etc) compared to the very small probability that the locking screws would stop an attempted burglary made it a "no brainer" to remove them from the car and retire them to the "spare parts bin".

By the way, did this the first time the wheels were removed to replace with winter tyres/wheels and guess what, one of the locking screws sheared and had to be drilled ou.

Regards
G

Three of my locking studs were damaged, on further inspection, and, after yesterday's visit to ATS, the key is damaged too:

BUT DIDN'T LIKE TO SAY

When I had a garage we had a mechanic (loose term) who took out head bolts with a air gun, he didn't last long....just like those wheel bolts.

There are much more elegant and effective ways of removing damaged locking bolts: detailed on this website too.
