Hi All,

I must make up for putting the cart before the horse, having already asked a question in "The Garage", and say hello...

I've had too many Citroens over too many years, seven CXs, three GSAs, a Zantia, a ZX, a BX, a 652cc Visa and a C15 van, managing to keep most of them on the road myself, barring the seriously difficult/specialist jobs involving presses, etc, etc.

Having recently deserted the marque for a Toyota sabbatical and now having reached my sell-by-date and having more time, I couldn't resist treating myself to a 2.2L C5 Exclusive Tourer last year, which I'm still drooling over and can't resist driving too much.

However, having totally "missed out" somehow on the C6 and wanting a more "hands-on" car to play with meantime, I've just succumbed to a 2006 V6 Exclusive with 53k on the clock.

My first impressions on comparing driving the two seem to tally with others I've read. The C5 is very sold and predictable to drive; it feels relatively "heavy", but very sure-footed in all circumstances whereas the C6 excels in dream-like fashion at speed on motorways, etc. but feels a bit uncertain of itself at slower speeds over less than perfect surfaces.

Practically I love the extra cabin storage space in the C6; the C5 is particularly poor in this respect, though the Tourer's load-carrying ability is excellent.

There's a lot to learn about the complexities of the C6 but by it's commonality with the C5 it's also teaching me a lot about that too in the process.

Plenty of things to sort out on the C6 (and probably suffer in the wallet, knowing Citroens!) so I'm sure I'll be surfacing regularly for advice.

Regards,

Robin

Yes C6 ownership can prove wallet emptying if it's not looked after.

Personally I find the 74 D Super far less complex to work on (and I have changed all the interior and most of the hydraulic components) and nearly as nice to drive, if somewhat noisier with a heavier thirst for fuel
