As shown on the photo, I have no idea what that rusty bracket is for? |

That's the cup holder for the guys in the factory when they're building the car, they've gotta have somewhere to put their espresso )

That was where the main wiring loom ran, or it did on French cars, anyway......

I noticed one of those on mine too. I did wonder if I'd lost some shielding somewhere!

THere should be a plastic shield covering (not fully) the pair of rear spheres. Mine got ripped off and I had it replaced. - Click Here -

So far, no one has come up with a reason for these brackets! Does anyone with an early car (2005) has something bolted to these brackets that was subsequently deleted in the build specification? Regards G |

Who else has them? I don't think mine does. You also have at least one extra exhaust clamp compared to mine- I only know because I replace the lower one in you pic recently (it was rusted out, and consequently the backbox drooped).

Yes Joydone, my exhaust pipe was a little bit tuned, because of new Sebring silencer was fitted. The flow is better and more power available. But the main question is still on. What the bracket is for? Is it very hard job to pump up the car, bow and take a foto? |

I'm resurrecting this topic as it's still intriguing me, too. My 2.7 has this bracket and I, too, thought I'd lost the aft cover for the middle spheres. Not so, it seems. There is no aft cover, according to my local, friendly dealer! My bracket's condition looked akin to yours, Jarecki, in your opening post. I've since painted it with Jenolite rust converter; it's remained a nice purplish pink since... |

I'm sure mine has this bracket, as shown in Jarecki's photo. I came across it when changing a rusted exhaust clamp. No idea as to its purpose though. Sorry. GRoB.

Every C6 has it. In versions with AMVAR it is practicly usless , it only holds wires. In 2.2 HDi version it additionaly holds height corrector. I guess it was cheaper to keep just one holder for wires and height corrector than design 2. Plastic shield mentioned by Dave is mounted in another place, at the spheres. |

This picture from one of the pdf in he library, seems to have a plastic shroud over the metal bracket! The plot thickens a bit more! |

The same plastic shroud can be seen in parts list picture but it is no longer available as there is no part number: |

Part number 8 will be missing from the list if you entered your VIN, which means only parts suitable for your car are shown. This would suggest your car wouldn't have been fitted with part number 8 when it left the factory. If a part is no longer available, it is still listed but has 'NFP' (No Further Parts) next to it. No.8 is part number 7013 Y6 and for petrol engines only. When you first go into Citroen Service, just selects parts for C6, then click 'Confirm' without selecting an engine type or body type. |
