Hi All

Ordered the official DAB upgrade, no problem, now my local Citroen have just phoned and said that Cit technical say it 'probably' won't fit a 2005 car!!!!

Did anything really change between 2005 & 2006 or are they all just being overly cautious? I can't believe it won't fit, can someone tell me it's OK please

I didn't particularly want such an early car, but I did want a petrol, hence my purchase

Cheers V much Justin (Surrey)

You have a) a petrol and b) a 2005.

I think that you might be the only one.....try it, and see!

I do!

Just had a look, reg'd on 01.12.2005.

Mmm, I think I will, I'm sure they're all being overly cautious, he was being a bit irritating about it actually

More comments appreciated, it's only £215, but still annoying if it won't work.

Cheers JJ

Is your car on RT3 or RT4? That could be the difference and I believe it could make a big difference.

On the drivers door pillar of your car there will be a sticker with tyre pressures on it. On there is the ORGA number of your car which you can translate into the build date. Some C6's were registered years after they were built. I know there is a silver 59 plate 3.0 PETROL Exclusive somewhere! I nearly bought it from Citroen Glasgow a few years back.

Hi David

Here's an image of the Orga code.

Is there another way of checking the system to see what version it is, the reason I wonder is that it was a Citroen demo car for over 3 years, and there's always a chance someone changed/ updated it I suppose!!

Cheers JJ

The build date on your car was actually 2nd November 2005...

Yours went from being built and shipped to registered within a very short space of time compared to most!

David.

Hi Chillmax (Justin),
I know some of the history of your car, as I was around at the time of C6 launch in the UK.
By the way we've met a several times at Citroen gatherings, but not for a few years, you may remember my 1983 Meadow Green CX Prestige that I had for 10 years.

Your C6 is one of the initial batch of 10 cars registered by Citroen UK in Dec 2005, all with number plates GF55YO A, B,C etc.
They were used in launching the car, training to dealership staff, Citroen UK staff, Press launch, loans to journalists (until the next batch were registered in March 2006 - all with RO 06 number plates), then once the initial launch was over all the directors used them as company cars.
There was only one petrol car, the rest were 2.7 HDi, all were Storm Grey with black interior, all Exclusive with Lounge Pack.
Your car was on display at Beulieu for 12 months, as part of a Citroen display, in the entrance foyer of the museum.

Best of luck with it and hope you enjoy your first C6 ownership experience.
Shaun

Hi Shaun, Mr Lilly I presume

Of course I remember you Shaun, very nice to hear from, and thank you VERY much for that fascinating insight into her history. I had to go a long way for her, Gainsborough, t'up north, about 200 miles on the way back, but after about a week of having her, it seems like it was completely worth it, I'm delighted.

Went to a Cit specialist for the first time yesterday, and almost nothing wrong with her!!!! Having all new tyres today, hope I chose the right ones. Paint could be a little better, bird muck damage on the roof, but it can be fixed over time, I'm even considering wrapping!! Tried to have her remapped this week as well, but she'll need to have her chip swapped, so that's still to come, will taker her to around 232.

I'm also looking into retrimming the top dash panel which houses the HUD, as I can't bear the reflection, I'm amazed Cit didn't do better on this!! If anyone knows a good trimmer in Surrey let me know, just gotta find some light deadening fabric.

It seems like she was looked after very well during her demo years, lots of work being done & things fixed, so, back to the original question Shaun, is there any chance the system may have been upgraded to allow the DAB kit, to RT4 and up, or do you think the original car will accept the DAB kit anyway, it would be great to know.

Many thanks in advance - Justin

Afraid my knowledge the ICE/Nav is very poor, so can't help with the question of DAB.
I know that RT3 has the nav maps on a DVD, which is read from the main head unit, then a CD auto changer in the boot. Your car would have had this when new.
RT4 used an integrated memory containing maps and had the functionality to upload CDs onto the hard drive. RT5 added bluetooth.
