Hi folks. New to this forum, I've had my C6 for almost a year, and have been enjoying its quirky charms.

The old girl is currently in with "the man" for its MoT, and has failed on front suspension bushes (I'm not terribly surprised, the car has been a bit grumbly over bumps of late).

The workshop are scratching their heads over identification and availability of the bushes required, which I have circled on the attached image. They can't find a part number, or work out which other vehicles the C6 might share these bushes with, and are therefore a bit stuck.

Would anyone happen to know what the specific part number is for this bush, or even better, a link to where I could buy a pair from (I'm in the UK)? For reference, my car is a 2008 C6 2.7 HDi Lignage.

Thanks in advance for your help, all assistance gratefully received!

Cheers,

Morgan.

if the garage can't work it out I'd be concerned over their ability to replace them!

MGmike, you are a gentleman and a scholar!

To be fair to my garage, they are a make-specific independent specialist, and that make is not Citroen. The place is owned by a mate of mine, so I bring him whatever I'm driving at the time (I have a penchant for quirky/unusual cars), and he rolls his eyes at me.

No issues with their competence (I've been using them for nearly 15 years), it was more to do with the fact their parts catalogue didn't have individual part numbers for the bushes - the catalogue was suggesting I'd need to buy a whole new hub assembly (which I'd rather not do, for obvious reasons of cost).

Again, many thanks for the link, MGmike. I've now bought the bushes on eBay, and have had them posted to the garage.

Hello MorganP104,

The problem is the bush is not available as a separate part from Citroen so there's no Citroen part number to reference against. Citroen only list the whole sub assembly. When I first needed them it was my motor factors who identified them as being available on a FEBI parts listing for the C6. It's the same situation with the wishbone bushes. Citroen only offer the whole arm. However you'll see on the forum that all individual bushes have now been identified and available from non OEM manufacturers like FEBI, Spidan etc.

Best regards,

Phil C.

I can add to Phil the notion of very different qualities of these parts. After wearing out the originals, I had a set that lasted only 10 000 km. Then I got a set in polyurethan in 2019 and no problems since.....

Certainly the quality on these parts differ, but I wonder also if they are assembled the right way?, That will say tightening the fine-threaded bolt going through the bushing first after the suspension is lifted to the normal height. Not doing so will stress the bush all the time unless you drive on top height on the suspension.

Regards, Christian
