4 years since I started the thread I have finally done something about it!

Took 30 minutes today and changed the OEM bulbs for LED's (PY24W-W type 5200S White)

The difference is noticeable as they are far 'whiter' than the OEM bulbs as can be seen from the image below with one changed. (Click the images to enlarge)

Now they actually look like LED Driving Lamps and not fog lights which should help those of you who have been flashed/stopped by the Police

A close up shows why. You can see the multiple bulb LED's quite clearly:

They were not difficult to change, the hardest part being separating the double lamp holder from the reflector unit without breaking the retaining clips......

Thanks go to magcar for finding the required bulbs

Just to clarify, the OEM and LED bulbs both have small locating lugs to ensure that they go in the correct way. The lugs on the LED bulbs are in the wrong place so you simply cut them off

The image shows the lugs on an OEM bulb

I like this. It matches the colour of the headlights. Is there a chance you can put a link from eBay of the correct bulbs as the search for the type you have put comes up with BMW's and the C6 LED search looks a lot different. I want to make sure i get the right ones!

Thanks

These are the bulbs: - Click Here - Yes they are described as BMW but do fit with the small lugs that I have noted in my previous thread, removed.

They don't actually do anything so there is no problem cutting them off.

Be aware though that the bulbs are from the USA so will attract import duty to the UK

They don't look a lot different and given the price and import duty from the USA I would go with the English ones posted above.

Don't go with the first "english ones from ebay". I got mine today, and the don't have copper receptacles for the "power prongs". They instead have mini female "lucar" terminals soldered to the LED connectors, and mounted into the plastic receptacles. Whilst It's probable they would allow power terminals to mount from the top surface (is that how the mount in a BMW?), they won't from the bottom.
The Second set look to have the copper plated mounts, so should be fine...

Not sure what you mean as you simply replace the unit as a whole. The bottom of the OEM bulbs looks like this (and so should the LED unit:

Nope, see attached. Its designed to fit a forward power mounting, not a rear power mounting. The lucar terminals face up to the top of the bulb, so do not allow the bulb to mount down on to a power mounting.

Ok, can somebody clarify which type of lamp is correct.
I found this eBay link - Click Here - but am unsure if these have the Lucar terminals referred to above.
I guess an ebay link to the lamps that Dave has used would be ideal?

Thanks all.
