Hi everyone!

Wonder if you can help. My father just bought a stunning 2006 Lignage, which he's thrilled with.

However, we discovered today the blower doesn't work at all. There's a gentle draft coming from the vents on top of the dash and in the footwell but nothing from the dashboard vents themselves. The blower knob doesn't do anything, whichever way you turn it - same when pushing the windscreen demist or 'auto' buttons.

Would anyone have any idea firstly what the cause is - and secondly what you'd recommend we do. We're reluctant to take it back to the dealer as he's not a Citroen person and therefore wouldn't trust him with a C6!

I have a CX myself - so know some great CX specialists. But is there a C6 expert out there somewhere who might have the right equipment to diagnose the issue? We are C6 newbies so forgive us if we sound a bit daft!

What a fantastic site, by the way. Makes fascinating reading - hats off to those responsible and to all you people with such good taste in vehicles!

Kindest regards and thanks,

James

Start by checking fuses, inside the glovebox, behind the cover and engine bay at the rear left side looking from the front.

Once you rule a fuse out then it could be the actual control panel or the blower motor.

Thanks Dave! Any idea where the fuse for that would be? It's not mentioned in the owner's manual - only the fuse for the air con is identified.

I'm guessing even an independent Citroen specialist would struggle to diagnose it, since I'd imagine only main dealers have the necessary equipment?

Am I right in thinking that control panel is all Peugeot 407?

Hi James,

Nice to hear there's a C6 in the family, that'll make an interesting comparison to your CX.

The C6 heater control unit is the same as C5 II & Peugeot 407, so not C6 specific, which will broaden the experience/knowledge of owners and mechanics (main dealer & independents).

The only Citroen specialist that I'd recommend for C6 work is the one near me who look after my car and at least 20+ other C6s, which may be a fair distance from Gloucestershire. Speak to Robert Lowdell at B.L.Autos, - Click Here - in Welwyn Garden City.

There is a database of repairers on the forum, so you may find one closer to you - Click Here -

Best of luck.

I had the same problem with my last C5. The climate control panel was working but the fan wasn't. It turned out to be the fan control rheostat at fault.

Thanks everyone. Car has gone into a local dealer for diagnosis. I'll let you know what the verdict is!

Just got worse.... huge water leak. Just gushes out when you refill. Disaster! Not a great start to C6 ownership. Odd there was no warning light or anything.

Anyway, I'll report back when we know what the problem is
