Thought I'd give the C6 a proper send off. On Regent Street.

Lads,

Both cars attended for National Car Testing (NCT) this morning and passed without a hitch. The two cars being on site together caused quite some interest in the test centre. I also remembered to slacken the hydraulic reservoir caps before they were taken in as the last part of the test requires the car being suspended with all wheels hanging for inspection. Apologies for quality of one photo. By the way, this was at about 08.10 this morning (Sunday). The place was buzzing with all six inspection lanes busy.

Regards,

Phil C.

Phil, I wonder, those Irish tests seem a lot more thorough than the UK MOT tests.

The facilities are state owned and leased to a private operating company, presently Applus. So it's an independent assessment. To minimise subjectivity most of the testing is computer managed. There is some subjective inspection. I'll post the report sheet for the two cars to give you a feel for what you get. The test is mandatory every two years for vehicles 4 years to 10 years old and annually for vehicles over 10 years. Vehicles registered prior to 1st Jan 1980 are exempt.

Regards,

Phil C.

In Romania it looks more or less the same, but there was one thing that made me think that yours was more thorough - the fact that you had the LDS tank cap loosened... Over here, I asked if they needed to lift the car at any point and they said no, so no LDS tank cap loosening needed

Cheerios,
Sam

Sam,

At the end of the test lane the car is lifted all wheels hanging where they check tyres, wheel bearings, brake flexible hoses, track rod ends to name a few! I almost forgot to do it but remembered in time before the cars were taken in.

Regards,

Phil C.

Ped: I love the last picture above. Your car looks awesome and the shot itself makes the car look compact. How did you do that? All in all, it reminded me again what a striking looking car our C6 is. Encore?

Thanks Bishop, I just spotted this place whilst out for a drive (still, after 3 years of ownership I like to just 'go for a drive')

I didn't have my tripod so it's not as sharp as I'd have liked so maybe I'll go back at night and see if I can get some light trains behind the car, too.

Thanks for the comment
