Had a look and neither Bosal or Witter list a tow bar for the C6 now so your options may be limited...........

EU Type approval means the towbar must be matched to the car and subject to fatigue testing for the exact configuration including fasteners. No manufacturer is going to bother with this for a few sales per year.

Looks as though the bar will need to come from Citroen. The only place you could save money is on specifying a different electrical kit.

Regards

Ron,

If you do order it from [ Dealer 1 ] I'm heading down to Beaulieu on 7th July, I could meet up and drop it off, to save you the postage......

When you say 'singe wire kit' what exactly does that mean?

Hi old post but new (?) wild idea - does C5 X7 tow bar (with its support bracket) fit to C6? It seems to be same design - I just installed one to X7 sedan. I'm not asking if its legal or anything - just asking will it fit

EDIT: would someone happen to have a spare rear bumper metal bracket from C6 to measure the dimensions between bolt holes etc? I have a loose X7 bracket to take those measurements.

Regarding cheap alternative: Peugeot 407 - same towbar? - Click Here -

If this is correct I think all P407 sedan towbars fit and there are plenty available new and second hand for almost free..

Unfortunately, not all 407 towbars fit the C6. My fitter had completed the job with the exception of refitting the rear bumper. This proved impossible because the cutouts for the rear reflectors fouled the horizontal crossmember of the towbar kit. A week later, using a C6 specific kit, everything went together perfectly. My fitter shrugged off the wasted morning's work and put the 407 kit back into stock. If I had been doing the job myself, I would have rated it a complete disaster in wasted time even if I managed to get my money back on the wrong kit.

From memory, the difference was that one kit used a square crossmember whilst the other was a circular section. I believe that it was the circular member that didn't fit, but don't gamble on my memory.

Ok thanks for info. This illustration is from the manual of this p407/c6 kit. Can you pinpoint the problematic section? (I found one P407 near me).
